Accoya cladding for Australian apartments

At the North Apartments on Blackwood Street, in Melbourne, Accoya distributed by Britton Timbers was chosen for the louvres and external screens that give rhythm to the facades of this residential building. The acetylated wood was the clear choice because of its durability, its dimensional stability and its FSC certification. The 40 × 40 mm battens were given a coat of Woca exterior tinted primer and then a further coat of Woca exterior walnut oil, before being fixed from behind to black powder-coated metal frames, for a clean, contemporary pattern that filters the light while preserving the privacy of the homes. The project was designed by Tony Battersby of SJB Architects for the developer United Asia Group, with designers Bird de la Coeur, Jack Merlo Design and Hassell Interior; construction was by Probuild Constructions and the joinery by Kure.
