Accoya

Accoya is a brand of solid wood modified by acetylation, manufactured by the Accsys Technologies group. The product is developed and manufactured by Accsys, a group headquartered in London, publicly listed and present in more than 25 countries. Accoya production is carried out at the Arnhem site in the Netherlands, while the group also operates a plant in Kingsport (Tennessee, United States) in a joint venture with Eastman Chemical Company, as well as an Accoya Color site in Barry, Wales. Accsys also markets the Tricoya brand, derived from the same technology. The core expertise is based on a patented acetylation process, which deeply modifies the wood structure in order to greatly reduce water absorption. This transformation, applied to FSC-certified softwood, gives the material high dimensional stability, increased resistance to rot and reduced maintenance, while retaining a non-toxic product. Accoya is a solid wood intended for many exterior and interior applications: decking, cladding, windows, doors, shutters and sun screens, as well as joinery and fit-out elements. The material is available in different dimensions and finishes, and the Tricoya range extends the technology to panels and applications requiring an MDF-type substrate. Accoya products are guaranteed for up to 50 years above ground and 25 years in contact with the ground or fresh water. The wood comes from sustainably managed, FSC-certified forests, and production in Arnhem claims Cradle to Cradle Gold certification. The group highlights a bio-based and circular approach as well as carbon storage in its products.
