Accoya cladding for the STUA head office in Astigarraga

In 2024, the design furniture maker STUA opened its new head office in Astigarraga, in the Spanish Basque Country. This three-storey building, conceived by Jesús Gasca and Jon Gasca, brings together showroom and offices, beside the river Urumea and facing a bamboo grove. For the exterior envelope, the choice fell on Accoya cladding, modified by acetylation, which offers class 1 durability, remarkable dimensional stability and a warm, natural appearance, perfectly in keeping with the values of the brand. The FSC certified timber resists the weather, damp and biological attack, with minimal maintenance. “The wood behaves wonderfully,” says Jon Gasca. Construction was carried out by Construcciones Dopico, with Grupo Gámiz as the Accoya distributor. This architectural manifesto illustrates an overall vision combining contemporary design, functionality and respect for the environment.
