Accoya sculpture at Bad Ragaz: durable art in the open air

At Bad Ragaz, in Switzerland, the Bad Ragartz sculpture triennial hosted in 2024 an impressive free-standing sculpture by the renowned artist Marc Fromm, made entirely in Accoya wood and displayed outdoors until 30 October 2024. Installed directly in the face of the weather, the work placed high demands on the material. Accoya was the clear choice for its natural beauty, its remarkable strength and its longevity: thanks to the acetylation process, it resists rot and insects and offers a service life of at least 50 years outdoors. Its exceptional dimensional stability allows the sculpture to keep its visual impact and its structural integrity for years, even in the face of extreme weather. The project illustrates how Accoya lets artists turn their creative visions into durable, environmentally responsible works of art that face the elements without losing either their beauty or their structure.
