Bay St. Louis residence, Accoya facade in Mississippi

On the Gulf coast, at Bay St. Louis in Mississippi, this fine private residence has a facade entirely clad in Accoya timber. The project was designed by the practice Unabridged Architecture, while the cladding was made by Delta Millworks, the American modified timber cladding specialist based in Austin, Texas. In a region regularly exposed to hurricanes, high humidity and intense sunshine, the choice of Accoya was the obvious one: its exceptional dimensional stability and its class 1 durability let it withstand coastal conditions over the long term without distorting. The cladding underlines the horizontal lines of the house and gives it a look that is both warm and contemporary, in dialogue with the surrounding landscape. The project illustrates the growing use of Accoya for high-end residential facades in the United States, combining technical performance, low maintenance and the natural elegance of wood.
