Curved bi-fold doors in Accoya – The Hermitage

For the residential project The Hermitage, in Leicestershire, Simplicity Timber Solutions designed and made spectacular curved sliding bi-fold doors in Accoya wood. Making curved joinery on this scale calls for a completely reliable material: Accoya was the ideal timber thanks to its warm, attractive appearance and above all its ability not to shrink or swell with seasonal changes in humidity and temperature. This exceptional dimensional stability ensures that the curved leaves slide and fold without ever jamming, while keeping perfect lines. Combined with Accoya windows, these doors open the house generously onto its garden. The Hermitage project was featured in the December 2016 issue of the celebrated British magazine Grand Designs, saluting the boldness of this bespoke joinery.
