Japanese fishing pavilion in Sausmarez Park

On the island of Guernsey, in the Channel, a new Japanese fishing pavilion in Accoya wood has been rebuilt in Sausmarez Park. The previous pavilion, in conventional timber, was rotting: declared dangerous, it had been closed to visitors. This charitable project, funded by the Rotary Club of Guernsey, was carried out in close collaboration with the approved manufacturer Paul’s Joinery, which chose Accoya for its high durability and stability, guaranteeing that the new pavilion will stand the test of time. Around 2.5 m³ of Accoya were used for all the elements of the structure, apart from the cedar roof shingles. The wood was protected with the “Pure” preservative from Rubio Monocoat, which keeps its natural appearance. This public pavilion restores to the park a landmark much loved by residents and visitors.
