Maison Tricot: a contemporary cabin in the woods

Located at Brasschaat in Belgium, Maison Tricot is a contemporary interpretation of the cabin in the woods, blending architecture, nature and sustainable materials. Designed by the agency Vlaminck Van Wetter, the project combines living space and a creative studio in a slender volume perfectly integrated into its forest setting.

The exterior cladding is in Kebony Clear wood, here in a deep black tone inspired by the Japanese charred wood technique. Laid vertically, it emphasises the architectural lines of the building while allowing it to blend into the surrounding natural landscape.

Thanks to its sustainable modification technology, Kebony wood offers excellent resistance to the weather, great stability and needs little maintenance. It is therefore an ecological alternative to exotic hardwoods, while keeping a natural appearance that evolves over time.

The project perfectly illustrates the alliance of contemporary design, technical performance and integration into the landscape.
