Norwegian Embassy roof terrace, Brussels

The tenth-floor roof terrace of Norway House, in the European Quarter of Brussels, has been renovated. The building looks onto Rue Archimède and faces the Berlaymont, home of the European Commission.

The works were carried out by property manager Epimmo on behalf of Statsbygg, the Norwegian government body responsible for state construction projects.

The decking was laid in Kebony Clear. Choosing this product, developed in Norway, extends the embassy's link with the Norwegian tradition of timber construction, while answering the technical constraints of a roof terrace: controlled loading, dimensional stability under direct exposure and maintenance limited to cleaning, with no finish to reapply. The wood greys gradually to an even silver tone.
