Restoration of the cloister at the Santo Antón de Herbón monastery

The cloister of the Santo Antón de Herbón monastery, in Padrón (A Coruña), was restored by the practice Ansede Quintáns to recover its splendour through high-value materials such as chestnut, chosen for its durability, its low movement in response to changes in humidity, its strength and its finish. Conserving cultural heritage is essential to maintaining the identity and history of a place: the chestnut used in the beams of this reconstruction raises the standing of the cloister, preserves its historic essence and brings out the beauty of its setting.
