Tommy Bahama, Kierland Commons, Scottsdale

The Tommy Bahama Restaurant, Bar & Store at Kierland Commons in Scottsdale, Arizona, underwent a major renovation completed in late 2016, covering both interiors and outdoor areas.

The outdoor bar is the centrepiece of that work. It is entirely clad in Kebony modified wood, a material also used on the ceiling and the hostess stand. The natural grain gives structure to these three elements and lends the space a warm atmosphere consistent with the brand's positioning.

Arizona's climate, with its very intense solar radiation and low humidity, is hard on untreated timber. Kebony, impregnated with a bio-based liquid, retains its dimensional stability there and needs no finish to reapply. The brand has used the material across several of its locations.
