AKE (AKE Knebel GmbH & Co. KG) is a German manufacturer of cutting tools for working wood, plastic and metal. Based in Balingen, in Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany), the company was founded in 1960 by Albert Knebel, who produced his first carbide-tipped circular saw blade in his father's file-cutting workshop in Engstlatt. Remaining a family-owned company, it has been managed since 2000 by Alexander Knebel and today employs around 500 people. Its international development has resulted in the opening of many subsidiaries, including AKE France as early as 1975, based in Illkirch-Graffenstaden, near Strasbourg. AKE presents itself as one of the world's leading manufacturers of circular saw blades and milling tools. Its core business covers the design, manufacture and maintenance of precision cutting tools for industry as well as crafts, with in-house expertise extending to the construction of its own production machines (the « AKEmat » range). The catalog includes circular saw blades for wood and wood-based materials, metal, plastics and composite materials (Boardline, SuperSilent, Universal Plus, Metal-cut lines), as well as milling cutters, drills, knives, clamping systems and diamond tools (Diamond 7021, 7024, 7040 series). The company also offers maintenance services: precision resharpening on grinding machines, carbide tip replacement, tensioning, geometry control and technical advice, highlighting more than sixty years of experience and a worldwide network of service partners.
