Alkern

Alkern is a French manufacturer of precast concrete products for building, outdoor development and public works. The group was created in 1972 with the opening of a first plant in Harnes, in the Pas-de-Calais, where its head office is still located. First owned by Tarmac and then Anglo American, the business took the name Alkern in 2010, before growing through a series of acquisitions (Duroux, Marlux, Eurobéton). Since the end of 2025, the company has been part of the Holcim group. It brings together around 1,000 staff and operates more than 50 production sites in France and Belgium, for a turnover close to 250 million euros. Alkern designs and industrializes precast concrete solutions intended to build sustainable territories. Its expertise covers the mass production of blocks, slabs, pavers and structural elements, with attention to thermal performance and reducing the carbon footprint of structures. The range covers building (wall blocks, floors, accessories), outdoor development (pavers, slabs, coping stones, fencing, garden) and public works (drainage, roads, street furniture). It includes bio-based products such as the NATUR R1 block, which combines concrete with a wood-fibre insert from sustainably managed forests, as well as the Re-Source range based on recycled materials. Alkern frames its business within a low-carbon and circular-economy approach, and is among the founders of the Écominéro eco-organization. Its sites are ISO 14001-certified and its products carry NF, QB and CE certifications. The company holds the EcoVadis gold medal (79/100 in 2024).
