Freud

Freud is an Italian manufacturer of saw blades and carbide cutting tools for woodworking. Founded in 1962 in north-eastern Italy, at the heart of the furniture region around Udine, the company has belonged since 2009 to the German Bosch Group, which provides it with an international distribution network. Its production remains concentrated around Udine, where several sites manufacture the blades and the carbide components. The headquarters hosts one of Europe’s most modern cutting-tool research and development centers. Freud’s core business is the machining of wood and its derivatives. The company internally masters the production of all its carbide components, and has developed its own titanium and cobalt micro-grain carbide, TiCo, which equips its tools as well as some Bosch products. This integration from raw material to finished product is its main differentiating factor. The catalogue covers circular saw blades, router bits, toolholders and brazed cutters, knives and inserts, bits and drill bits, as well as tools for CNC machines and for the machining of windows and doors. The range is complemented by spare parts and accessories. Freud positions its business around precision and innovation, relying on full control of its carbide manufacturing chain.
