Mayr Melnhof Holz

Mayr-Melnhof Holz is an Austrian group among the largest in the European wood industry. Based in Leoben, in Styria, the group traces its origin to 1850 in a sawmill founded on this same site, which remains the group's head office today. Owned by the Mayr-Melnhof-Saurau family via the holding company F. Mayr-Melnhof-Saurau Industrie Holding GmbH, the group employs around 1,700 to 2,100 staff depending on the source, spread across 9 to 10 production sites in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Sweden, the latter integrated in 2022 through a majority stake in the sawmill group Bergkvist Siljan. The group also acquired the German group Hüttemann in 2018, whose Wismar and Olsberg sites now operate under the Mayr-Melnhof Holz brand. Mayr-Melnhof Holz's core business is softwood processing, from sawing to the most advanced engineered-timber construction products, with a market-leading position in the glulam segment and a driving role in the rise of cross-laminated timber, presented as the construction material of the future. The range covers glulam (MM masterline, including special elements and slabs), Duo and Trio beams (MM vistaline), glulam panelling (MM blockdeck), CLT/cross-laminated timber (MM crosslam), solid-wood construction elements (MM HBE), glulam floor slabs (MM profideck), timber-concrete composite elements (XC XlamConcrete), a complete timber-engineering and hall-construction offer (MM complete, via its subsidiary Hüttemann), sawn timber, concrete formwork beams and panels (K1 yellowplan, HT 20plus) as well as wood pellets (MM royalpellets). Mayr-Melnhof Holz highlights its sustainable resource management, with all its timber construction products PEFC-certified, and communicates on its environmental commitment through biomass and photovoltaic cogeneration installations at its production sites, as well as a recent award given to exemplary timber construction projects in Austria.
