Hardwood lumber (boules & slabs)
Description
Izombe (Testulea gabonensis), of the Ochnaceae family, comes from tropical West Africa, mainly from Gabon. Its heartwood, ochre yellow to pinkish yellow brown, is barely distinct from the sapwood; the grain is straight, often wavy or interlocked, and the texture fine and even. All machining operations proceed without difficulty, producing a fine dust; pre-drilling is recommended and gluing is good. Of moderate durability (class 2-3), it suits interior and exterior woodwork, windows, doors, furniture, veneers, turning, floors and wood flooring. Callens African Woods sells it as hardwood sawn timber, within a range of African tropical hardwoods under FSC® chain of custody.
