Moabi Sawn Timber 1
Hardwood lumber (boules & slabs)

Description

Moabi (Baillonella toxisperma), of the Sapotaceae family, is a hardwood from tropical West Africa. Its heartwood, pink to dark red brown, contrasts sharply with a light pink to grey brown sapwood of 40 to 60 mm. The grain is straight, sometimes wavy or tangled, and the texture medium coarse to fine. It machines fairly well by machine as by hand depending on its silica content; pre-drilling is necessary and gluing is good. Durable (class 1), Moabi is widely used in interior and exterior joinery, windows, doors, vehicle bodywork and wood flooring. Callens African Woods offers it as hardwood sawn timber, within a range under FSC® chain of custody.
