Niove Sawn Timber 1
Hardwood lumber (boules & slabs)

Description

Niove (Staudtia stipitata), of the Myristicaceae family, grows in Gabon, Cameroon and Congo. Its heartwood, orange brown turning from light red brown to dark red brown, is clearly distinct from the sapwood; the grain is straight, sometimes slightly interlocked, and the texture fine. Given its high density, it works well and contains no silica; pre-drilling is nevertheless necessary and gluing is good. Durable (class 1), Niove is used in indoor and outdoor work: windows, interior woodwork, stairwells, thresholds, wood flooring, vehicle bodywork, floorboards, turning and veneer. Callens African Woods offers it as hardwood sawn timber, within a range under FSC® chain of custody.
