Hardwood lumber (boules & slabs)
Description
Tali (Erythrophleum ivorense), of the Leguminosae family, is a hardwood from tropical Africa. Freshly cut, its heartwood is yellow to orange brown, then darkens to dark brown or red brown in the light. The grain is interlocked and the texture medium coarse to coarse. Its high density and its interlocked grain make it fairly difficult to work and blunt tools quickly; good dust extraction is essential, as its dust is harmful and may irritate the nose and throat. Gluing is good and pre-drilling necessary. Very durable (class 1), it is reserved for heavy outdoor construction — hydraulic works and bridges — as well as for floors, wood flooring and thresholds. Callens African Woods offers it as hardwood sawn timber, through an FSC® supply chain.
