Bus station canopies, Bourg-Saint-Maurice

The upgrade of the Bourg-Saint-Maurice transport hub illustrates MS BOIS's expertise in designing durable infrastructure. The canopies of the bus station use local sapwood-free Douglas fir, whose mechanical strength is ideally suited to the climatic constraints of the Savoie region, while making the most of short local supply chains.

The frame is built in sapwood-free Douglas fir, giving it maximum natural durability rated at class 3.2, with no additional chemical treatment. The structure is also optimised to carry a photovoltaic or green roof, in line with the standards of sustainable construction. The project was commissioned by the municipality of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with architectural design by SP Architecte – Sylvain Perillat. It demonstrates the ability of Europe's leading Douglas fir sawmill to meet the technical requirements of public-access buildings in mountain areas.
