Chéran secondary school, Rumilly

The Chéran secondary school in Rumilly was designed to give pupils a functional and pleasant learning environment while meeting demanding requirements for environmental performance, energy efficiency and the use of local resources. This eco-construction received the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional Fibois Grand Prix in 2019.

The building draws on local spruce, both solid and glued-laminated, for its frame, floors and roof structure. The external elements are made of glued-laminated or finger-jointed larch, a species chosen for its natural resistance outdoors. The project was commissioned by the Haute-Savoie departmental council, supported by the Plantier engineering office, while works management and architectural design were handled by AER Architectes and ADELA Architecte. It reflects MS BOIS's commitment to durable school construction, rooted in its territory and based on French timber.
