De Hessel

De Hessel, in Herselt, Belgium, is a group of apartments certified BEN (nearly zero-energy), designed to offer calm and comfort in the heart of the town.

The courtyard garden, a true green oasis, is planted with grasses, flowering plants and notable trees. The practice Architectenbureau Atrium opted for LDCwood® ThermoWood® ayous cladding, valued for its warm tone, its soft lines and the fine natural patina it develops over time.

To meet the fire safety standards applying to medium-rise buildings, this wood was treated with the natural Burnblock® fire retardant by Lemahieu Fire Protection®, guaranteeing lasting protection while respecting the environment.
