Vals-les-Bains thermal baths extension

The extension and renovation of the Vals-les-Bains thermal baths puts the timber sector centre stage through an ambitious architecture that combines wood and basalt, echoing the landscapes of the Ardèche. The building stands out for its striking three-dimensional timber structure, evoking a drop of water suspended above the future sensory circuit.

The constructive solutions combine a three-dimensional structure in glued-laminated Douglas fir with bonded Resix-type connections, a traditional four-nave frame in solid Douglas fir, and timber-frame posts and walls. Supported by the ADEME and by Europe, the project makes wood the central material of a high-end, durable and innovative thermal establishment. The project was commissioned by SITHERE, with architectural design entrusted to Luc Demolombe. This achievement reflects MS BOIS's technical command of complex, large-scale timber works.
