Vandecasteele Houtimport

Vandecasteele Houtimport is a Belgian wood importer offering a very wide range of exotic, hardwood, softwood, thermally treated and modified species. Based in Aalbeke, near Kortrijk in Belgium, the company is a family business run by the fifth generation of the Vandecasteele family. Founded in 1883 by Louis Vandecasteele around wheelwrighting, it turned to wood when Desiré Vandecasteele added a sawmill. Urbain and then Stefaan Vandecasteele, at the head of the company since 2000, made it an international player; Louis Vandecasteele took over management in January 2025. The core business is wood import and trade, with a permanent stock of around 120,000 m³ covering nearly 130 hardwood and softwood species. The volumes are stored under cover on a 60-hectare site, which allows the company to present itself as one of the leading stockists of certified wood in Europe. The range brings together tropical and European hardwoods (teak, ipe, wenge, oak), Scandinavian and American softwoods (European larch, spruce, pine), logs, as well as thermally treated wood, modified wood and glulam. The products are classified by durability class, from 1 to 5, to make selection easier. Vandecasteele emphasizes certified wood and responsible sourcing: its stock includes FSC-, PEFC-, OLB- and LegalSource-certified volumes. The company also communicates on numerous sustainability initiatives and on the carbon stored in its inventory.
