Description

The Lenka model is a habitable 20 m² garden studio delivered as a kit, built in Douglas fir from sustainably managed French forests. Its timber bricks, filled with wood wool, carry the insulation directly within the wall and make it possible to meet the requirements of the RE2020 regulation. Assembly is done by slotting the bricks together with a simple mallet and linseed oil, with no special tooling: the kit therefore suits self-build, a partner craftsman being able to take over if needed. The PVC windows and doors offer high thermal performance, and an insulated option with double glazing strengthens the seal for year-round use. The acoustic insulation of the system also limits outside noise. For a structure of this size, a prior works declaration is enough; putting up several studios, or going beyond 150 m² of total floor area, calls for planning permission instead.
