Brikawood

Brikawood is a French manufacturer of interlocking solid wood bricks that make it possible to build eco-friendly homes without nails, screws, or glue. Based in Sèvremoine, in Maine-et-Loire (Pays de la Loire), the company was born from the meeting between Alain Roméro, an engineer specializing in timber-frame construction, and Patricia Dutreux, a business lawyer. The concept is the result of around ten years of research and development leading to several patents, before the first brick appeared in 2015. The company is now operated as a SAS. The core business of Brikawood is based on a patented construction system: bricks made up of four wooden elements that interlock with one another, assembled without nails, screws, or glue. The wood used is eco-certified Douglas, class 3, and the system is presented as entirely made in France and demountable. The company positions its offering in eco-friendly housing and self-building, which represents the majority of projects. The range is available as kits: main houses (from 52 to 140 m²), studios, extensions, as well as ancillary structures such as garden sheds, pool houses, pergolas, and carports. Brikawood offers custom projects and support, with adjustable-thickness bricks and options (electricity, RT2012 or RE2020 compliance). The company highlights enhanced insulation and a low-energy housing approach. It communicates about the use of eco-certified Douglas wood from French forests, certified PEFC and FSC.
