Description
Also called a butt rounder or butt trimmer, the SGM butt-end reducer is a log preparation machine that complements the debarker. It reduces the flared butt of the tree to a cylindrical shape in order to make it easier to convey the timber and feed it into the debarker and then into the sawing line. An articulated chain turns the log on itself while a base fitted with knives machines the butt to give it a regular profile; an ejection system then returns the log to the production flow. By removing the buttresses at the base of the trunk, it makes driving and centring at the head of the line more reliable, limits jams and improves material yield. The range comprises three models: the SRP 650 (reduction up to 650 mm, logs up to 8 m, 24 to 30 knives), the SRP 1000 (up to 1000 mm, 12 m, 30 to 34 knives) and the SRP 1500 (up to 1500 mm, 15 m, 40 knives).
