Description
A black EPDM strip designed to protect the exposed face of the framing timbers that carry open-jointed, perforated or open-boarded cladding. It intercepts the splashing and run-off that reach the batten through the joints in the facing, and so slows the ageing of the framing. Installation requires the whole exposed face of the timber to be covered, plus at least 20 mm: three widths meet this rule, 70 mm for a timber exposed up to 50 mm, 110 mm up to 90 mm and 130 mm up to 110 mm. Two strips are joined by overlapping them by at least 10 cm. They are temporarily held by stapling, final fixing coming with the fitting of the facing. A self-adhesive version exists, to be applied to a clean, dry and degreased substrate. The product complies with CSTB document 3316.
