Kilns
Description
Cathild steaming chambers even out the colour of the timber and eliminate wood-boring insects right through the section, for a light, uniform shade. Three configurations are available. The ACC chamber works by direct steaming, with low-pressure steam injection supplied by a boiler or a generator fired on biomass or gas, or by indirect steaming via an above-ground or buried hot-water tank whose heat exchanger brings the water to the boil. The GGS chamber works by indirect steaming from a hot-water tank fitted with an immersed burner, also biomass- or gas-fired. The combined kiln and steaming chamber brings together in a single chamber a light steaming cycle of a few hours and a drying cycle run straight after: it reduces investment by 30%, handling by 50% and greenhouse gas emissions by 30%, since all the energy used for steaming then goes into drying. The process ensures a uniform colour and optimum bending behaviour.
