Kilns
Description
The Cathild firewood log kiln delivers ready-to-use firewood with half the consumption per cubic metre dried and cycles twice as fast. Loading is flexible: loose logs in slatted crates or in mesh Amplirol skips. The kiln runs on a closed circuit to limit energy costs, and adding WRG heat recovery units to the extraction dampers cuts consumption by a further 20%. Two solutions are available. Solution 1, using an ACC system at 85/90 °C with a biomass boiler, offers cycles of 4 to 6 days but can only be considered from two or three kilns upwards, as a wood-fired boiler cannot run safely below 35% of its installed output. Solution 2, high temperature at 90/120 °C using a TTGH system with a direct gas burner or an ACC biomass system with superheated water at 140 °C minimum, brings cycles down to 2 or 3 days and halves drying time, costs and footprint.
