What is chipboard? Definition 

A chipboard panel, also called particleboard, is a building material made from wood particles (chips, sawdust, wood flour, etc.) bonded under high pressure and heat with a binder, usually a thermosetting resin.

 

What types of chipboard are available?

There are many types of chipboard, each with its own properties, including:

  • Raw chipboard: uncoated surface, ready to paint or veneer,
  • Melamine-faced chipboard: covered with resin-impregnated decor paper,
  • Laminated chipboard: covered with a decorative laminate that is more durable than melamine,

  • High-density chipboard (HMR): stronger and denser than standard chipboard,
