Wood paints
Description
Opaque water-based coating designed for beekeeping, suitable for wood as well as for Styrofoam type expanded polystyrene. It provides the decorative finish and the protection of hives, supers and apiary components against rain and sunlight, the main ageing factors for boxes left outdoors all year round. The product has been tested for bee compatibility and meets the requirements of DIN EN 71-3 on the safety of toys, adopted under Directive 2009/48/EC. Its strong water repellency limits water uptake by the substrate and its UV protection slows the breakdown of the colour. Average stated coverage is about 160 ml/m² in two coats. Pack sizes range from a 375 ml bottle to a 2.5 litre tin, suited both to batches of hives and to occasional touch-ups.
