Description
Making furniture parts to order on throughfeed machines means changing groove width often, for back panels of different thicknesses for instance. This operation previously called for two successive units. The automatically adjusting grooving cutter changes the width, and even the shape of the groove, during machining: the adjustment is made in the gap between two workpieces, in 500 ms at a feed of 30 m/min, without stopping or reconfiguring the machine. A single grooving unit is enough, which shortens the line and reduces tooling costs. The width is adjustable from 2.5 mm and up to a maximum of 18 mm, for diameters from 140 to 250 mm. The HSK tool holder is reusable and the brazed diamond cutting edges can be reground several times. The tool fits the Homag SF30 grooving unit and handles the usual panel types.
