Oak Boule Grade QB1b

Description

This Grade QB1b in boules, of BM "Fine Joinery" quality, comes from French oak logs that are mostly PEFC certified. The logs are sawn into unedged boards, restacked into boules or made up into packs, cleanly debarked and trimmed. This grade permits sound knots of 5 to 40 mm evenly spread, a larger sound knot being tolerated where it is isolated: the small knots and pin knots give the timber its character. The timber is offered green, air-dried under cover or kiln-dried, and stored on dried profiled stickers. Boules and unedged boards are strapped and identified by a barcode label. This grade is sought after for staircases, furniture and wood flooring, for the authenticity of the material. Acceptance and grading are carried out green, with a minimum volume of 5 m³ per thickness.
