Oak Cooperage Boule Grade F

Description

Grade F "Straight Grain / Cooperage" brings together oak boules from straight-grained logs of fine quality, grown in French forests that are mostly PEFC certified. The logs are sawn into unedged boards then restacked into boules, cleanly debarked and trimmed. The straight grain and even texture of this grade are essential to the tightness of cooperage work. The timber is offered green, air-dried under cover, pre-dried or kiln-dried, and stored on dried profiled stickers to keep staining under control. The boules are strapped and identified by a barcode label. This grade is intended for making large-capacity casks and tuns. Acceptance and grading are carried out green, with a minimum volume of 5 m³ per thickness.
