Preparation & cleaning
Description
Transitional protection for new wood during its first season of exposure to the weather, before final treatment. The product is breathable: it regulates the evaporation of the moisture held in the wood while preventing outside water from penetrating. It is this regulation that reduces the risk of checking, splitting and distortion under sudden exposure to sun or rain, problems commonly seen on decking or cladding laid in green timber. It also limits greying and prepares the substrate to receive its finish. It is applied directly to prepared timber, in a single generous coat, on wood that is dry to the touch, before or after installation, vertically as well as horizontally. It is aimed in particular at softwoods — pine, spruce, Red Cedar — and at wood treated right through. Important restriction: it must not be applied to wood that has already been exposed to the weather. Coverage of 5 to 7 m² per litre.
