The chain covered runs from the purchase requisition through to paying the supplier. Material requirements from several customer orders, from the master schedule and from replenishment are added together, then the tool suggests which suppliers to approach, based on history and on the answers to earlier enquiries; the order is created automatically for the supplier chosen. An add-on module automates sending out enquiries and receiving the replies. Packaging, dimensions and weight are all used, and tracking of back orders by order, by due date or by item makes chasing easier. On receipt, discrepancies, rejections, non-conformance reasons, the CCPU code and the batch number are entered, with several levels of inspection and allocation to stock or to the project, at purchase price or at weighted average cost. The quality rating given at receipt feeds a statistical supplier scoring system. Stocktaking is prepared by aisle, rack and bin.
