A renovation project in Auckland

For this residential renovation in Auckland, New Zealand, the practice Vorstermans Architects specified Accoya windows after studying several options with the client. Accoya was chosen because its advantages, in particular its class 1 durability and its remarkable dimensional stability, clearly outweighed the higher initial cost of the material. As part of the project, all the windows in the house were replaced with new double-glazed joinery, appreciably improving the thermal comfort and the appearance of the home. The Accoya was supplied by Timspec, the official Accoya distributor in New Zealand. The project illustrates the value of modified timber in renovating existing homes: durable joinery, stable in the oceanic climate of Auckland, and faithful to the original character of the house.
