Accoya cladding for the restructuring of Annecy airport terminal

The restructuring of the terminal at Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc airport, opened at the end of May 2026 at Épagny Metz-Tessy, has modernised a 1960s building extended in 1992 for the Albertville Olympic Games. Designed by the agency VRA | Vincent Rocques Architecte for Vinci Airports, with SEAAM as project manager, the scheme replaced a glazed facade with concrete infill by around 200 m² of natural Accoya cladding. The open facade combines boards in three widths (190, 140 and 90 mm) with 120 × 65 mm Accoya fins framing the joinery, fixed with stainless steel nails driven by hand to preserve the grain of the wood. Accoya was chosen for its guaranteed longevity, its dimensional stability in an Alpine climate, its low maintenance and its contemporary look with a fine, knot-free grain. Supplied by LB Wood and installed by CBDS, this cladding confirms the value of durable timber for French public infrastructure.
