Accoya facade on the Bremen sports hall

Accoya clads the facade of the sports hall at the Carl-Zeiss-Strasse primary school in Bremen, Germany. Timber cladding was chosen to underline the economical construction of the building and for its fine appearance, the architects seeking a creative interplay with the historic rendered school building opposite and the brick facade of the adjoining original sports hall. The finely planed profiles were given an azure grey oil finish; they were supplied by the distributor Enno Roggemann of Bremen and fitted by the Hocke joinery. Completed in October 2017, the building was photographed again three years after the works finished: the Accoya facade looked as good as new, proof of the excellent dimensional stability and durability of acetylated wood, which needs virtually no maintenance for years.
