Accoya for a beach bar and restaurant: Breakers Beach House

At Noordwijk, in the Netherlands, Breakers Beach House is a high-end beach bar and restaurant attached to the Grand Hotel Huis Ter Duin. Nestled in the dunes and facing the North Sea, the building was designed to fit harmoniously into its coastal setting, a demanding environment that called for materials able to withstand sea spray, wind and damp without frequent maintenance. Accoya modified wood was chosen for a wide range of applications: windows, doors and cladding, but also balustrades, trusses, posts and planters. Its dimensional stability and its durability make it a high-performance solution even by the sea. The joinery was made by Van Leeuwen Kozijnen, whose director Eline van Leeuwen says she is delighted with a final result that lived up to the hotel client’s expectations.
