Accoya louvred screens for the renovation of Angoulême station

As part of the major renovation of Angoulême station, carried out from 2016 to mid-2018 to rework the main concourse, the offices and the public areas, louvred sun screens in solid Accoya were installed four metres up on the windows facing the forecourt. The AREP agency, architect for SNCF, specified Accoya for these hard-to-reach elements: stable, class 1 durable and virtually maintenance-free, the wood can be left natural for 50 years according to the Grégoire joinery, which carried out the work. A year after installation, the architect in charge found that the screens, although highly exposed to the weather, had not moved. Thanks to dimensional stability superior to exotic species, only two fixings at the ends are needed, with no intermediate support. The wood was distributed by Compagnie Forestière de l’Atlantique, a subsidiary of the Peltier group.
