Accoya windows and an Accoya entrance

For this private home in Rotterdam, Accoya was chosen as the ideal material for the windows and the front door. Designed by the Eindhoven practice Werkstatt, the house maximises both interior and exterior space through its characteristic bevelled angles. The design is conceived to avoid overheating: the south facade is deliberately more closed, while a large Accoya window opens onto the water in the north-west facade. Accoya was chosen for its insulating qualities, its class 1 durability and its dimensional stability: the windows open effortlessly in every season, with no swelling or distortion despite the damp Dutch climate. Its elegant finish also complements the rest of the property perfectly, where the wood converses with the other facade materials in a contemporary, understated architectural language.
