Cabin by the sea

Nestled on the edge of the Sjursholmen fjord near Søgne in Norway, this private home is a genuine ode to Accoya wood. The whole exterior — wide-board cladding, roof, deck and jetty — was built in Accoya modified wood left unfinished, with only the window frames painted black. The architect Tommie Wilhelmsen drew inspiration from the landscape and the needs of the family: four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an annexe on the water and a central kitchen opening onto a pool cut into the rock facing the North Sea. Accoya was chosen for its exceptional dimensional stability, its class 1 durability and its use class 4 rating, essential in the harsh Norwegian coastal climate. Over time the wood will take on a silver-grey patina that will blend the cabin into its surroundings. Built by the manufacturer Made by Wood / Meling.
