Decking with integrated LED lighting

The first outdoor deck in the world with integrated LED lighting has been built in Accoya wood in Florence. The Florentine designers of Zanaga Design Lab, working with the Italian company Led Lighting SD, developed an exterior board system in which Accoya modified wood incorporates LED modules that are invisible when switched off: the light filters through the board with no visible perforation, respecting the natural look of the wood. The high dimensional stability and workability of Accoya made this integration possible within a reduced thickness that no other board would have withstood. Sealed, the low-consumption light source withstands rain, snow and dust. This lit decking and cladding system is part of the Kobel Outdoor collection from Zanaga/Kobel, an Accoya distributor, and also answers urban signage needs, particularly for footbridges and bridges.
