Extension of a listed property with Accoya French doors

In Hampshire, England, a grade II listed property has undergone a major renovation including the creation of a light-filled extension. The owners wanted to fit a south-facing room with five sets of timber French doors. The joinery manufacturer Whyte and Wood, based in Windsor, designed and made these glazed doors to measure in solid Accoya. The acetylated wood was chosen for its exceptional durability, its dimensional stability — essential on a strongly sunlit facade where traditional joinery tends to distort — and its improved insulation performance. The result combines the classical elegance expected in an English heritage building with contemporary performance, with large glazed openings that flood the extension with natural light while guaranteeing longevity and reduced maintenance.
