Forges cultural centre

The renovation of the former town hall of A Fonsagrada, built in 1845 and disused since 2015, represents a balance between heritage conservation and architectural innovation. The Galician studio FIRM Arquitectura turned the building into a museum to house the collection given by the family of the cartoonist Antonio Fraguas, “Forges”. The structural solution rests on glued laminated chestnut beams, an exclusive Siero Lam product guaranteed by CE marking, able to carry long spans without intermediate supports. Chestnut profiles were also used for the joinery, guaranteeing dimensional stability, thermal insulation and energy efficiency.
