Garden office in Croydon

The rise of hybrid working has created demand for garden offices, separate from the house but on the same plot. Okopod builds these modules to order, drawing on low-impact materials including Kebony modified wood, which shortens and simplifies delivery.

In November 2022 designer Mattias Brietholz moved into his new home in Croydon, near London. He explains that the boundary between working at the office and working from home had blurred for him and his partner, and that creating a dedicated space for their projects was a long-held wish. The couple compared several companies before choosing Okopod.

The module is clad in Kebony Clear 90-degree shiplap, in 19 x 120 mm boards. The modified wood, impregnated with a bio-based liquid, offers a long service life with no finish to reapply, on a standalone structure at the bottom of a garden. Photography: French + Tye.
