Goethe Tower, Frankfurt

The former 1931 observation tower, the victim of arson in October 2017, had left an open wound in the city forest and in the hearts of the people of Frankfurt. The rebuilding of this 43-metre-high public tower was carried out with a structure made mainly of glued laminated chestnut beams supplied by Siero Lam. Chestnut was chosen for its durability, its stability and its ability to be used outdoors without preservative treatment, with FSC durability certification and CE certification issued by the Otto Graf Institute at the MPA in Stuttgart.
