Holiday home in South Africa

This impressive coastal holiday home in Cape Town, South Africa, uses Accoya wood almost throughout: louvred shutters, three garage doors, the front door and entrance wall, bi-fold and sliding doors, windows, exterior cladding and a pedestrian gate. Permanently exposed to sea air and changing weather, the property called for a timber that was both highly durable and environmentally responsible, which made Accoya the ideal solution. Built by Constantia Oaks, the house had all its Accoya joinery made by the approved manufacturer Window + Door Store Cape. All the wood was finished with Rubio Monocoat, giving a dark brown tone that lets the natural grain of the Accoya show through. The project, completed in 2021, illustrates the durability of the material in a demanding coastal environment.
